The Society for the Study
of Early Modern Women is a network of scholars who meet annually, sponsor
sessions at conferences, maintain a listserv and website, give awards
for outstanding scholarship, and support one another's work in the field.
EMW welcomes
scholars and teachers from any discipline who study women and their contributions
to the cultural, political, economic, or social spheres of the early modern
period and whose interest in it includes attention to gender and representations
of women.
Announcements:
- Congratulations to winners of awards for work published in 2010! Submit work published in 2011 for an award in 2012 BY MARCH 15, 2012. See details here.
- The Society holds its annual business meeting for 2011 at the Sixteenth Century Society and Conference, October 25-28, 2012. Information about the SCSC.
- Jane Couchman, Vice President, is organizing EMW-sponsored sessions for other conferences as well. Information.
- Subscribe now to receive Volume Six (Fall 2011) of Early Modern Women: An Interdisciplinary Journal.
- Ashgate makes its publications available to to SSEMW members at a discounted rate of 20%. Additional details along with a list of publications are available here. Ashgate authors, editors, and contributors are reminded that they are eligible for a discount of 35%. The two discounts may not be combined.
